As leaders within the body of Christ who bring his sacramental presence to others, your health and well-being is inextricably connected to the vitality and spiritual health of our local church. The Archdiocese of Washington is therefore committed to providing quality care for all of its present and future priests throughout their lives.
As you may know, an archdiocesan task force has been studying ways to address the underfunding of the priests’ retirement fund and to provide for priests’ long-term care. They have done a thorough and exceptional job, developing recommendations that implement new strategies while at the same time strengthen current support. Their recommendations have been carefully reviewed by Archbishop Wuerl together with the relevant archdiocesan consultative bodies. The task force truly deserves our deepest thanks for all of their hard work.
